According to

Hubris, or arrogance -let' just call it that- is often related with negativity and competition. Aggression and hostility ara common symptoms. "I am better than youé is the underlying message. Obviously, it is not really associated with a high self-esteem or positive self-image, even though it pretends to be. Hubris is obviously not connected with high self-esteem, but with a self-esteem that goes up and down from arrogance to self-doubt. People with excessive feeling of hubris tend to be in conflict with others more often, and the ability to adapt to social situations or tolerate others is often lacking.

Pride: The 7 Deadly Sins

Hubris is a figure in Greek mythology and forms the basis of the system of values of the ancient Greek world. It represents the violation of limits; arrogance and pride, that is, the presumption of being able to overstep the boundaries imposed by the need to respect the divinity, nature and men. It personifies violence and excess, as opposed to justice, and sophrosyne, wisdom and prudence.
